Vibram—it of “FiveFinger” shoe infamy—is hawking a new offbeat concept in footwear: the “Furoshiki” sneaker. Inspired by the Japanese tradition of bundling objects in fabric, the shoe comprises the world’s first wrap-around outsole. The Furoshiki neither uses nor requires laces. Instead, it features elastic bands that secure around the ankle via a Velcro closure. It’s also designed to adapt easily to any surface, which “guarantees comfort and durability,” according to Vibram.
