Robin Falck became tired of daydreaming about building his dream home, so he set about creating his very own lakeside cabin in the beautiful Finnish countryside. The design had to be small enough to be built without a permit (which in Finland
is a humble 96 - 128 sq. ft). After sketching out some ideas and
enlisting the help of an architect, construction began in the summer of
2010 - and the project was finished within a couple of weeks for just
$10,500! The result is this stunning and simple micro-cabin which Falck
has lovingly termed 'Nido' - Italian for bird's nest.

Measuring in at just 96 sq. ft., the space is a cozy home with a loft
big enough for a bedroom and storage for Falck’s clothes. The lounge
and living area on the bottom floor offers a place to relax and enjoy
the surrounding views. A huge window provides views across the lake from
both floors and bathes the interior in natural light.
Falk chose to use recycled materials to go light on the earth and
keep costs low. He estimates the total spent on the cabin at around
$10,500 – an unbelievably affordable price for such a serene-looking micro home.
